Align personal 'Motivation' to your Goals and Culture

If you are fortunate enough to be part of an effective, empowered team, that works efficiently towards common goals, go out and enjoy a motivational programme, whether it involves mountain climbing, gourmet cooking adventures, or the like. They are fun, they can stimulate creativity and also help build an even greater sense of belonging.
But if your priority is on building trust and team cohesion which is closely aligned to your company goals, think again. There are two fundamentally different team-building approaches:

Some team-building programs don't quite work out as you expected.
  1. A focus on the participants 'bonding', having a good time, getting involved in hands-on team exercises and generally being left with a memorable group experience.
  2. Building awareness of the different strengths of your team members; then, after defining the kind of team you want, align your people, your objectives and your company's culture... or future vision. In creative work sessions, you can then support this goal and establish the necessary stepping stones towards your future.
Our emphasis at Lazy Horses is on this second option. Well prepared and carried out with excellence, such sessions have a lasting effect rather than simply providing a short term ‘feel-good’ factor. Customized versions of these team building sessions are particularly appropriate for companies going through periods of change.

What kind of team-building session?

Thinking styles reveal strengths
It may not sound like as much fun as an outdoor exercise! There's certainly less physical stuff going on, but Lazy Horses sessions are highly interactive and use a wide range of media to provide lots of variety and interest. They improve the team ‘feel-good’ factor, but within a goal-oriented working context - satisfaction ratings are always high.
Beginning with individual thinking style assessments, you build up personal self-confidence, focusing on your strengths and learning that 'differences' are both necessary and manageable.
Interacting and working with others becomes a learning game, as each thinking style gets its say, before  your company goals then form the basis for practicing team interaction and improving your communication and creativity.

RECENT PARTICIPANT COMMENTS
“Interesting topic. I thought I understood myself; the analysis makes me understand better.” CW
"It was the best session I ever had.  Merci Mille fois.  Want to share with you that I adopt what I have learnt professionally and also personally." KW
"I found it very interesting and something I can apply to my thinking and approach at work. A pity we didn’t have more time to expand further on its use. Maybe another session? Thank you; I have enjoyed it very much.” TB
So how does this approach pan out?
After reviewing your goals and if needed, carrying our a sample exploratory survey, you begin by plotting your strengths as an individual, then as a team and then at the company level.
Your Starting Point – The Individual
Know yourself better:
  • Understand how others see you; learn why you react as you do; discover your natural strengths
  • Get to ‘know’ others better - recognise them for who they are; understand their strengths, where they complement yours, and discover why you gel with some and don’t quite hit it off with others
Continuing with - The Team Session
After further clarification of the team goals and integrating any desire to modify or
simply support the existing company culture, you work in pairs and later as a team to:
  • Understand how you relate to others and how they relate to you, using practical examples
  • Learn why some straight-forward communication fails and some succeeds
  • Develop the skills which allow you to better apply your strengths in a work atmosphere
Improved Communication
Misunderstandings can occur all too easily, particularly with so much information being exchanged in email or text messages, on social networks, via Skype or other forms of rapid communication. It may be down to a lack of precision or even emotion, but by delving deeper into the unconscious mind, you learn practical techniques to help get your messages across effectively and with  clarity. You will practice:
  • Making your messages ‘sticky’ so that people remember the key points you want to get across
  • Delivering consistent messages but adapting your communication style to different audiences.
  • Improving your ability to influence others

Fully Integrated with Your Company Vision

Having improved their ability to work well within the team and with other teams, your people are better positioned to help the organization attain its desired business goals.
This works best with a full understanding of the team's importance related to the corporation’s goals, and clarity about how their work fits into the overall context of what the company stands for, its principles, vision and values.

We tackle both the rational and emotional components of your vision/mission statement.
