Interactive Workshops

Using the analogy of a horse and its rider to build on a two-brained model; ‘Intuitive thought’ can be compared to the horse, representing the older brain structures while ‘Reasoned thought’ is akin to the Rider - our neo-cortex or new brain.

Building Improved Teamwork and Communication

Picture
1.   Discover the broad diversity of thinking styles present in your team or your company… at a rational level
2.   Develop a greater appreciation of the way others look at things
3.   Learn ways of making your messages more relevant to others
4.  ... but because people make decisions with their unconscious ‘emotional’ brain (instinctive and often intuitive), you examine additional effective elements of persuasion and influence
5.  Pull the rational and emotional components together to build convincing communication flows and presentations

Knowing Me and Knowing You 1
 - Promoting  Self-Esteem and Self-Compassion
At this 1/2 day interactive workshop, you focus on building self-understanding and developing a growing sense of the way in which different personality profiles contribute to a successful outcome, both in formal and non-formal teams.
Usually starting out at the company level, this is where you first work through the potential strengths and weaknesses of your company as seen by the participants; then, you focus in on your own contributions to this company culture, the decision making approach and overall company effectiveness. You then establish the potential communication gaps and issues of self-perception vs. ‘reality’.
Typically, in a corporate culture, one path is seen as more valued than others, be it logical, creative, collaborative or competitive. This predominant culture will be reviewed and discussed in the context of company goals.

Knowing Me and Knowing You 2
 - Improved & Relevant Communication
In this 1/2 day session, we review the basics of a neuromarketing approach in the context of preparing a meeting or putting together a presentation. Participants begin by selecting a subject for their internal or external audience and after first integrating learnings from the ‘self-esteem/self-compassion’ section, add neuromarketing impact within a realistic work context.
The goal is to structure conversations and make presentations or sales pitches in such a way as to help participants get their point across more clearly, with the best chance of winning over their target audience.  Before establishing practical next steps and setting realistic objectives, you will practice:
  • Audience analysis before customising your approach
  • The power of Storytelling
  • The Golden Rules and Cardinal Sins of effective communication

The Client's View:
"James provided us with a thinking styles assessment workshop where a select group of members of Young Professionals in Foreign Policy had the opportunity to discover their natural brain strengths and find out more about how their brain actually works.
Each participant received a personalized assessment, and were able to discuss their outcomes with James. The session has been extremely motivating and encouraging, and our members were positive in their feedback after the session. Our members discovered new personal strengths and were taught useful skills on how to improve in certain areas.
The workshop has been expertly executed and delivered in a captivating and engaging way. James included interactive activities and shared useful tips and recommendations for further development.
We highly recommend his services to any organisation looking for innovative and effective ways of improving their team’s performance."

Four core groups of traits

Identify your strengths

This is where the process starts. The  four vertical groupings (see below) represent typical thinking style traits. By mapping your ratings against these, you begin the process of 'balancing your brains'.
But this is just setting the groundwork, dealing with the 'newer' blue areas of the brain during this early stage in a workshop. It is however, fundamental to the success of the working session because without a good degree of introspection, it is difficult to open up to other ways of seeing and expressing things.
